The Dudh Kunda Trek is a lesser-known trekking route in Nepal’s Everest region, named after the “Milky Lake” Dudh Kunda. The route starts from Phaplu, accessible by flight or road from Kathmandu, and takes trekkers through picturesque Sherpa villages, lush forests, and alpine meadows. The highlight is reaching Dudh Kunda Lake, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus. The lake is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, and every year, pilgrims from the Solu and Khumbu regions gather for a holy dip in its waters. The trek offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and nearby attractions like Thupten Chholing Monastery and Chiwong Monastery. The trek is moderate, suitable for all ages and
fitness levels, and best undertaken during spring and autumn when weather is clear and views are spectacular.
